Successful Partnerships

Precious Reason Association

Together with Precious Reason Association, we have been able to accomplish successful events,

both in person and online, in raising awareness to human rights - with emphasis on the rights of

citizens living in Portugal and Europe; and in increasing employability by providing free training in

areas like sanitation; and promoting and supporting the conclusion of PLA courses.

These initiatives help bring people together and emerge non-Portuguese nationals in the local

communities, giving them a sense of belonging and prompting them to become more involved and

proactive, as well as enabling them to stand up for their rights and fulfill their obligations.

O Mundo do Aprendiz

This partnership centers on the co-production of learning materials; as well as the

planning and implementing of non-formal learning activities.

It also aims to provide new learning methodologies for the attainment of formal

learning objectives. These include helping learners to 'learn how to learn' and

increasing their self-confidence so that they approach learning as something that

is enjoyable and achievable; as well as helping them to take responsibility for their

own learning.

Donation's Bank and Volunteering

Building a strong and active community requires the

involvement of all.

We pride ourselves on the generosity of our members and t

heir continuous contributions to those in greater need.

We run a continuous food bank and are looking to increase

our Volunteer Network.

Use your spare goods and/or time and join us in building a

sustainable, integrated and happy community.

Mutilação Genital Feminina Não!

Another area that has had our interrupted support is the combat of Female Genital Mutilation / Cutting (FMG), namely the

project Mutliação Genital Feminina Não!, also supported by Comissão para a Cidadania e Igualdade de Género

(Comity for Citizenship and Gender Equality).

Despite being juridically typified as a public offence and a violation of human rights in Portugal, over the last 10 years, more

than 500 cases of FGM have been identified in Portugal, according to data from the Amadora/Sintra Local Health Unit (ULS)

published in February 2026, with reports indicating a consistent increase  over the last five years.

In 2024, 98.4% of the cases detected involved adult women, of whom around 70.9% had been victims aged nine or under.

More than half of all recorded cases present health complications, including psychological, obstetric, sexual and

urogynaecological problems.

Headed by Fátima Rafaelo, a nursing student and Islamic Religion teacher, Mutliação Genital Feminina Não! works on the

terrain in a two-pronged approach: educating about the physical dangers of this practice in workshops that provide medical

explanations about the practice and its consequences; and clarifying misconceptions about its religious affiliations to Islam

and that, in fact, it is a religiously forbidden practice. This is done for groups of both men and women with the presence of

speakers of both genders to reinforce the fact that men have a key role in stopping this nefarious practice and that

'a woman's problem is a human problem'.

Pluralis salutes their dedication and commitment and are extremely proud of their achievements. Anyone wanting to join the

can cause, send us an email and we will redirect it to the group.

Learn to know your neighbour

Pluralis Community Gathering

For the first time ever, eight solidarity associations came together to share thoughts

and experiences on challenges to the successful integration of those who are

differently able; and to draw up a set of joint initiatives for the future.

After individual presentations by representatives of each, there was an exchange of offered volunteer services by all those present, namely:

  • Pluralis

  • ASFARGAssociação de Solidariedade dos Filhos e Amigos da Região de Gabú;
  • Associação Baitul Falah;
  • Associação Ikhlas;
  • AJID - Associação Juvenil para a Integração Desenvolvimento,
  • Fórum das Mulheres da CIPLP; and
  • Talamidhul Quran

Special thanks to the ladies from

Fórum das Mulheres da CIPLP who

arrived bearing delicious desserts

that put a smile on everyone's face.

«« There was even a surprise for our

Pedagogic and Development

Coordinator  - a visit from some former

students who spoke about the

difficulties of learning new

language and the importance of

the support network he benefited

from at Pluralis.

TASAAQUAF Academy

Preparation for Ramadan &

distribution of the holy Qu'ran

We congratulate the Tasaaquaf Academy, our partner in

Arabic language teaching, for their initiative of preparation

for Ramadan and the free distribution of the Qu'ran.

Stemming from its partnership with the AL Quran Academy

London, this workshop included an introduction to the

activities of this association and their impacts on society.

This was followed by a reflection on Ramadan and the

true objective of fasting. Moulana Abdul Gaffer, head of the

Mosque of Arroios and host of the event, highlighted that

fasting is not essentially about not eating, but taking care of

one's neighbours.

WHPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) Partnership

Human Rights and Peace  Workshop

WHPL, with its origin in the Plilipines, ia a global institution that offers a peace education program aimed at fostering a

"culture of peace" in future generations by teaching values like coexistence, gratitude, and conflict resolution.

Its aim is to reduce racism and bullying in schools while fostering a mindset that rejects violence in the present and the

future, thereby contributing to an enlightened, peaceful, thriving world.

Within the scope of our collaboration agreement, Pluralis held a Peace workshop where members learned about becoming

Peace makers in their communities, through a set of planned fun activities aimed at promoting a hands-on approach and

taking of personal responsibility for the changes we want to see happen.

Success Stories

Portuguese as Host Language

Learning a new language as an immigrant can feel overwhelming, especially

when life leaves little room to breathe. Long working hours drain both energy

and motivation, turning even simple lessons into exhausting tasks. After a full

day of physical or demanding labor, sitting down to study vocabulary or

grammar often feels impossible.

The challenge becomes even greater when digital skills are limited. Many

language resources today require a level of comfort with technology that not

everyone has, creating frustration instead of progress.

This combination of fatigue and limited access to learning tools can slow down

integration and make everyday situations -like speaking to a doctor, helping a

child with school, or handling paperwork- more stressful.

Despite these barriers, many immigrants persist, learning bit by bit through PLA

courses and real-life interactions, showing resilience and determination in the

face of constant challenges.

That is why we are extremely proud of those we help to achieve A2 certification

in Portuguese, like Rasel Ahmod in the picture with his PLA diploma.

TASAAQUAF Academy

End of Arabic Course

The students from the Tasaaquaf

Academy's most recently  concluded

Arabic course are getting together to

celebrate with their teacher in Pluralis,

repeating a long tradition of sharing

a meal to  commemorate their

success.

We congratulate them on conquering

another level and for their hard work

and  commitment to the acquisition of

a new language.

We praise their cultural awareness

and interest in sharing new

experiences as a team.
